Areca Palm
Chrysalidocarpus lutescens

Over
time, its maximum height indoors is ten feet or so.
This tropical palm enjoys moderate to bright
light. Although its leaves arch romantically downward, it’s sure
to uplift any home or office. Select sturdy, shapely, healthy
plant free from insect and disease and insect damage. New leaf
growth is desirable. Avoid plants with yellow or brown leaf
margins, wilted or water soaked leaves.

Light: Keep your
Areca in bright light. An east, west or south window will do fine.
Water: Keep soil
evenly moist, but not wet. Make sure the pot has good drainage.
Absolutely do not let your plant sit in water. If you have a saucer
under your pot make sure you empty the saucer after watering.
Humidity: Average,
good idea to mist leaves when possible.
Fertilizer: Any good
all-purpose fertilizer such as Miracle Gro or Schultz is fine.
Follow manufacturers recommendations.
Other Comments: If
drainage is compromised you could have root rot problems. You may
also have problems with spider mites. If so, wash plant with soapy
water and apply a miticide rated for houseplants.
