Bacopa
Sutera cordata

The Bacopa is an instant hit with
gardeners with its beautiful purple or white flowers . Sutera
hybrids are incredibly vigorous and versatile. It's "living carpet"
growth is unbeatable for filling those inevitable bare spots and
spicing up small pots. Keep the plants well watered in the heat of
the summer to encourage bud development. This plant is considered an
annual in this part of Oklahoma.

When To Plant: After the
temperatures begin to warm and the after the last
average frost date (April 15 in Tulsa). |
Where To Plant: This spreader
can reach 15-25", so make sure you plant it where it has room to
'spread out.'
How To Plant: Plant in full sun
where you have good drainage. It is adaptable to some drought and
also poor soils, but does best in rich, well drained areas. Bacopa
is a fast grower, so I would space them at least a foot or so apart.
Of course, since it is an annual, if you want a fuller look plant
them closer together.
Care and Maintenance: Keep
plants well watered when we start reaching the 'dog days.'
Deadheading is usually not necessary unless you notice no new buds
forming.
