Chinese Evergreens
Aglaonema

Chinese evergreens are very tolerant plants that do well in a
variety of settings. Several species are available, some with dark
green leaves and others that are variegated. Aglaonema
flourish for years.
Care
Grow in water or in humus
potting soil. Keep the soil minimally moist. They do best in
shadow-less light, such as a north window. They require a minimum of
care.
Drainage
Potted plants should always have good drainage.
Occasionally the drainage hole may become clogged by roots.
Check it by pushing a finger, stick or pencil into it. Even
though drainage from the pot may be good, pot coverings may hold
water. Pots wrapped in waterproof foil or placed in deep
planters should be checked occasionally for standing water.
Special Requirements
When the stems become too
long, propagate with tip cuttings. Or use the air-layering method.
The bloom stalk may be clipped off at the base of the plant when the
bloom begins to look bad.
