Identifying Rose Pests and
Diseases

In Oklahoma roses are considered the foundation of
many gardens. But...in our climate roses can also be a challenge to
keep healthy and free of pests and disease problems. Hopefully, this
will help you identify and rid your rose of problems before they
become life threatening.

Rust

Rust is a fungal
disease. Treat with Funginex or Schultz Fungicide3 |

Leaves appear
mottled with black specks or possibly webbing. |
Spider Mites

Use a miticide

White, powdery
substance on leaves and stems. |
Powdery Mildew

|
Treat with a
fungicide such as Funginex or Schultz Fungicide3 |
|
Blossoms don't
fully open, or are brownish when they do open. |
Thrips

Thrips need to be
treated with a systemic such as Orthenex |
Quick Note: These are some of the more common diseases and insects that can
attack your roses. Usually, more than one treatment is necessary to
control an insect or disease problem. It is always a good idea to
start a regular spray program for your roses.
