More About the Shumard Oak

The Shumard Oak is one of the largest of the
southern red oaks. It has been known to reach heights of 70',
therefore making it a great shade tree.
It has shiny, dark green leaves, and the bark is
gray and smooth. It grows moderately fast and produces acorns every
2-4 years that are a bonus since they can be used by wildlife for
food.
Tolerates poor soil and drought conditions,
especially after established.
